Some facts about sleep inducing foods

The inability to fall asleep is one of the main problems for many people. Insomnia in its varying forms is a vexing problem whether it is mild, severe, or chronic. So it certainly helps to do everything it takes to help us sleep better at night, if we have difficulty sleeping. One of these things we can do is to look at our diet.

Take sleep inducing foods for example, did you know that taking milk before bedtime can give you a small advantage in falling asleep? Milk contains tryptophan, an amino acid that makes us feel sleepy, or helps us to get into the “sleeping mood.” Another commonly mentioned food is bananas, although eating too much bananas would just end up giving you a good bowel movement.

Sleep experts are of the opinion that foods that help us sleep do work, but they mustn’t be viewed as some sort of panacea for real sleep problems. Just combine food with a healthy approach to sleeping and you’ll do better in the long run.
